About Us.
L.A. Tango Academy (LATA) is one of the leading Tango schools in the US founded by Emma Bogren and Richard Cepeda in 2015. The school has been successful in introducing its students to tango and leading them to gain the confidence and ability required to dance and enjoy tango anywhere in the world.
Philosophy.
The classes have a clear structure and form a part of a very thorough and comprehensive syllabus designed to guide the students from their first steps on the dance floor, to becoming skillful and advanced dancers.
Pedagogy.
The school and curriculum is structured in such a way that constantly challenges the student as they progress from one level to another. As we ask our students to constantly improve, we too are constantly examining our teaching practices through a critical lens to make sure that we’re in touch with the latest concepts, ideas, and developments in tango pedagogy.
Community.
LATA is a school but it is also a community where everyone has a chance to contribute, help and be helped. We are consciously facilitating a supporting environment in our classes where more experienced students are invited to provide support and guidance. We often organize events where students have the chance to practice, experiment, socialize and have fun!
